Love The One Who Wears Your Ring

Love the one who wears your ring.

Those words aren’t original with me. They came from a Philippine portal site with one of the discussion threads that bears that title.

More than 16 years ago, my mother was not convinced that Jembie was the best mate for me. She was sincere, but on that matter, she was wrong. Had I listened to her, I would not have married the woman I should have married.

Parents are usually good counselors on most things. But they don’t walk on water, neither me. But your life decisions can be put to test by many circumstances. Whether you will continuously loving the same person you promised to be with the rest of your life, or lose it altogether. A marriage relationship that is on the rock, oftentimes— the love for the offspring is what binds the husband and wife despite all odds. It is for the same reason that we should love our spouse as much as we love our children.

I remember a self-help book on marriage and relationship that I read back in the Philippines saying, “The best way of loving your children is to love their mother”. This phrase had awakened my self realization that leads to my eventual refocusing of my attention to my wife. Admittedly, this mindset helps me focused on the most important thing in my marriage life—‘To love the one who wears my ring’.
